Level 1 coaches with certifications obtained prior to December 31, 2012 are required to recertify by December 31, 2016.

1. Click on link http://meetregister.com/2014/usatf_school_level_1.php.

2. Complete the registration form and make payment of $55.

3. Level 1 certification is verified by the National Office.
In the event that Level 1 certification cannot be verified, the registration fee will be refunded after a $5 administrative fee is withheld.

4. Following approval, purchase NEW second edition of Level 1 textbook at USATF store (membership discount).

5. Online access is granted to the updated Level 1 online exam and USADA modules for 90 days.
Coaches must obtain a passing grade of 80% to achieve recertification.

6. Level 1 certificate is available online after passing grade achieved.

Coaches holding a USATF Level 2 certification are exempt from the Level 1 recertification.

As of January 1, 2015, the Coaching Education Committee has implemented a recertification component for the Level 1 curriculum. Recertification for Level 1 coaches will now be required on a 4 year cycle.

Purpose: To introduce new training techniques, and provide the latest materials to enhance the knowledge of Level 1 coaches. As of January 1, 2015, a new textbook and updated curriculum was introduced into all Level 1 schools.

Qualifying Period: As a special offer to open the recertification period, a “grandfather clause” will be offered from January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2020. Beginning January 1, 2020 every Level 1 coach must be recertified every four years to match the Olympic Cycle. Any Level 1 coach who fails to recertify following the 2020 Olympic quadrenium will be removed from the USATF coach certification database.
